The Forgiven

Who is this man? They shout at Him.
The push Him down. Blood runs down His skin.
Some say He heals the sick. Some say He lies.
He looked at me with a tear in His eye.
I reached and touched this man they were soon to crucify
With a silent stare he delivered me a story with His eyes

"Son, I do this for you and all that you've done.
I take this flesh from my body and give to make you whole.
Face to face with this pain, to take away your sin.
So you'll appear to my Father as the forgiven."

The forgiven...

Thrown to the ground, they cursed His name.
The stipped Him down, mocked Him as a king.
Down again they struck Him hard, how much can one man take?
A crown of thorns upon His head and pain on His face.
They held Him down and pierced His hands and I began to cry.
A mother screams desperately as she watches Him die.
A voice said...

"Son, I do this for you and all that you've done.
I take this flesh from my body and give to make you whole.
Face to face with this pain, to take away your sin.
So you'll appear to my Father as the forgiven."

The ground it splits, the thunder rolls, the sun tries to hide.
Sadness hits as the power flows, His death has brought us life.
I gazed upon His frozen face, the eyes that once had life.
His story grew touching many lives, the reason why He died.

"Son, I do this for you and all that you've done.
I take this flesh from my body and give to make you whole.
Face to face with this pain, to take away your sin.
So you'll appear to my Father as the forgiven."

The forgiven....
